Third-year NASCAR Cup Series driver, Bell won the race last season and has won two Xfinity Series races at this track. Bell led over 100 percent of the laps in the two previous races. Bell led 151 of his 200 laps in 2021, while he led the 2019 race with 186 laps. COVID-19 caused the 2020 race to be cancelled. This meant that drivers who won this year's race would have their points determined.

The most recent driver to win at New Hampshire is Kevin Harvick. Although he currently sits 19 points behind Christopher Bell, Harvick's past performances at the track have been outstanding. In fact, he has won three times at the track in his last seven trips. He finished in the top 6 in nine of his eleven races at NHMS.

Accidents at NHMS

Over the years there have been many crashes at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Scott Mullin, who was killed in a single motorcycle accident at Speedway, was the most recent. Mullin, 38, was a father of two and a passionate motorcyclist. His death marked the fourth fatal motorcycle crash at the Speedway, the first since 2010, and the fifth since 2004.

Four drivers were taken out of race after the accident, which was one of the worst at the track. Justin Haley & Ty Dillon were in contact at front of the pack and sent both drivers across the track. This led to the restart of the 10th lap, which was delayed.
